The FAFSA opens on October 1, 2026.
There will be a FAFSA night on Monday, October 5th at 7pm in the Fulton High School media center/library.
There will be representatives from MCC to help you and your parents complete the FAFSA. To help you make the process easier, please follow the instructions below.
You can create your Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID account by visiting the StudentAid.gov Create Account Page. [1, 2]
What You Need Before You Start:
Social Security number (SSN)
Full legal name and date of birth (must match your Social Security card)
Personal email address (cannot be shared with another account)
Mobile phone number (optional, but helpful for security codes)
Permanent postal address [1, 2, 3, 4]
Step-by-Step Instructions
Go to the StudentAid.gov Create Account Page and select Create Account or Get Started.
Enter your name, date of birth, and SSN exactly as they appear on your Social Security card.
Create a unique username and a strong password.
Provide your contact information, including your email address and permanent address.
Set up and record your challenge questions and answers for account recovery.
Verify your mobile number and email address using the secure codes sent to you.

Important Details
Processing time: Verification with the Social Security Administration typically happens immediately, but it can take up to 1 to 3 days if status is pending. [1, 2]
Separate accounts: Every individual (students and each parent/contributor) must create their own separate account with a unique email address. [1, 2]
Scholarship information-- this a link to national scholarships that are available and when they are due. If you fit their criteria, you should apply. Follow the link to the newsletter and if you want, you can subscribe and it will give you weekly updates on scholarships.

As we have discussed in your senior audit meetings with me, local scholarships (the B#4, Gratiot Community Foundation, and Gratiot Veterans Scholarship, VFW, Lions Club, Penny Bearden, etc) won't start to come open until the end of November/beginning of December and will be due at the end of January and the first part of February.

During the month of October (October 1-31), most, if not all colleges and universities in the state of Michigan are waiving their application fees for some or all of October. If you haven't applied to your potential college choice yet, October is the time to do it and not have to have a fee. Please understand that certain schools may only offer the free application for a set period of time (the 1st through the 7th for example) while others may have free applications all the time.

Congratulations to this year’s senior class Homecoming Court: Macie Akers, Camryn Cunningham, Adell Grubaugh, Makiya Telling, Jake Childers, Ethan Henry, Zach Litwiller, and Roman Patmon.
This year’s Homecoming class representatives: freshmen Taylor Cunningham and Dash Michael; sophomores Amada Price and Jackson Childers; and juniors Kaci Kirvan and Lucas Podolak.
Tomorrow night our Varsity Football team travels to Merrill to take on the Vandals. This will be Merrill's annual Military Appreciation Night. All Veteran's and their families will get into the game free. Additionally, there is a free cookout for the Veterans and their families prior to the game. Let's fill the stands and support our Pirates and show our appreciation to all members, past and present, of our Armed Forces.

Team bonding is such an important part of football. The friendships, trust, and memories these boys are building off the field can make a huge difference when they are on the field together. There is something special about sitting down as a team, sharing a meal, and reminding each other that they are part of something bigger than themselves.
