This is one last reminder about the Foundation’s scholarship application deadline! Students have until the end of the day on March 1st to complete their application. We have nearly $180,000 available in scholarships to support education for previous and current Gratiot County students. Scholarships are available for all ages—graduating high school seniors, college students, adults returning to school, and even high school students studying arts outside the classroom. The largest two scholarship funds’ only criteria are that a student live or work in Gratiot County and are pursuing a post-secondary education. The average scholarship amount is $1,500, and every student is encouraged to apply. The entire scholarship application process is online. To launch the application, visit www.gratiotfoundation.org/scholarships/, and select the 2022 Scholarship Application link. The applicant will create a login and answer a series of questions, which will determine their eligibility for ALL scholarships available. Please share with your appropriate networks!

Yesterday and today the 7th graders had a visit from the RESD Xello staff. They set up accounts and took tests to find out what they might be good at for career options. This is the first step in getting ready to think about high school classes and career opportunities.

The Gratiot Isabella Technical Education Center (GI-TEC) proudly inducted 73 deserving CTE students into the National Technical Honor Society including our own Aliesha Salogar! Fifteen returning seniors who were inducted last year also received their honor cords. In addition, the GI-TEC recognized two outstanding businesses who have supported Career and Technical Education (Sherwin Williams and My Auto Group). Congratulations to all of the outstanding individuals honored. (Re-watch the NTHS Induction Ceremony: https://youtu.be/yZ9ybDuQZI8)

Today is the first day of National School Counseling Week. The theme of this year’s week is “Better Together.” “Little Women” author Louisa May Alcott said, “It takes two flints to make a fire.” You’ve probably also heard the phrase “two heads are better than one.” Look around, how are you working in teams today? Are you collaborating on school projects, helping a friend or playing a sport? We are so much stronger together – and, sometimes, you encounter work that requires more than one person to complete.

National School Counseling Week 2022, “School Counseling: Better Together,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 7–11, 2022, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.  The special week honoring school counselors provides recognition for school counselors who “implement comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century,” We are very grateful here at Fulton Middle and High School to have Mr. Woodman with us.
