She has added the Michigan Cares Program (https://michiganvirtual.org/michigan-cares/) including their Mental Health Awareness program. In addition, our school counselor is leading weekly sessions of yoga as a part of the class.

Second Step® Middle School, is a research-based social-emotional learning program designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, impulse control, problem-solving, and empathy. Second Step skills and concepts are designed to help students both in and out of school. These include:
Mindsets and Goals: Students learn how to develop a growth mindset and apply research-based goal-setting strategies to their social and academic lives.
Recognizing Bullying and Harassment: Students learn how to recognize bullying and harassment, stand up safely to bullying, and respond appropriately to harassment.
Thoughts, Emotions, and Decisions: Students learn how to recognize strong emotions and unhelpful thoughts, and apply strategies to manage their emotions and reduce stress.
Managing Relationships and Social Conflict: Students learn strategies for developing and maintaining healthy relationships, perspective-taking, and dealing with conflict.

Good afternoon,
Attached is the flyer for the rescheduled CTE open house on March 2nd at Alma High School

Before Christmas break, Mr. Woodman, our school counselor, spent several weeks meeting 1 on 1 with every student in grades 6-12. The purpose of the minute meetings was to attempt to establish connections with every student. Through these meetings, Mr. Woodman was able to check in on each student academically, mentally, and emotionally. In addition, he asked each student who the adult was that they connected with here at Fulton Schools. We now can use that information to help support our students in all aspects of their lives. We also now know which adult to reach out to when a student needs extra support.

Eighth grade science held a fun broomball lab last week. Thank you Mr. Baker and Mrs. Nielsen!
