Mr. Woodman wanted to share from Day 2 of the Marine Educator Workshop: Our second full day of the workshop, we experienced the leadership training course, the obstacle course and were briefed on how the chaplains and counselors help the recruits navigate their 13 week basic training experience. On the first day, we experienced a small snapshot of what a recruit goes through, we're briefed on all the educational opportunities (and how the Marine Corps pays for them) and visited the air station to view the air wing of the Marine Corps. But the most valuable thing that I have taken from this workshop is the conversations that I have been able to have with drill instructors (very similar job to teachers), current marines and recruits. Through those conversations i have seen the different reasons they all joined and what their story was before joining the Corps. These conversations will help me help our students by helping them with their "why" and how I can help them get there, whether it is to joine the military or not.

You have heard about our positive office referrals program, but did you know staff are mailing home positivity notes each month? Each month staff members select a student and send a handwritten note of positivity and encouragement to their house. By the end of the school year, there should be more than 125 of these sent home.
