Middle School Families

As we begin the new school year, we want to remind you of Fulton Middle School’s phone-free policy and share an important update.

Fulton Middle School is a phone-free school for the entire school day for all students. Each student is issued a Yondr pouch at the beginning of the year. Upon arrival at the 1st hour, students are expected to power off their phones and place them inside the pouch, which locks securely. Students may keep the pouch with them throughout the day or store it in their locker. At dismissal, students unlock their pouches before leaving the building.

What’s new this year:
To ensure consistency and reduce disruptions, we will not unlock pouches at any point during the school day — including during lunch. Students will have access to their phones again at the end of the day. If an urgent matter arises, families can always call the main office, and we will ensure students receive messages or are called down if needed.

We are making this change because:
Phones can be a significant distraction from learning, relationships, and social time during lunch.
Consistency helps prevent misuse and eliminates pressure on students and staff to make exceptions.
This ensures a calmer, more focused environment for all students.

We appreciate your support as we continue to prioritize student learning, safety, and positive connections. Thank you for helping us reinforce this expectation with your student before the first day.

Dear Fulton Middle School Families,

We are excited to share that all Fulton Middle School students will receive a school planner this year. Students will be taught how to use their planners and will be expected to use them consistently. Our goal is to support the development of crucial executive function skills such as planning, organization, and time management: skills that are critical for success both in school and beyond.

We know parents and guardians play a key role in helping students build these habits, and we want to partner with you in this effort. Here are a few simple ways you can support your student at home:

Check the planner daily: Ask to see what your student has written for homework, projects, or upcoming tests.

Encourage consistency: Remind your student to use their planner in every class, every day.

Model planning: Share how you use calendars, lists, or reminders in your own life.

Celebrate success: Recognize when your student uses their planner well—positive reinforcement builds strong habits.

We believe this small tool will make a big difference in keeping our students on track and building independence. Thank you for supporting us as we work together to help your child grow in responsibility and organization.

Starting Fall 2025, Fulton Elementary, Middle, and High School will move to digital forms for all required local, state, and federal annual paperwork. These forms are available in your PowerSchool Parent Portal and must be completed for each student before the start of school.

You will see two sections in PowerSchool that require completion:
Beginning of the Year Agreements and Permissions – includes items such as the Acceptable Use Policy, media release permissions, and other annual agreements.

Other Required Information – includes state and federal reporting forms, emergency contacts (which you can update if needed), and other important student data.

Forms can be filled out from either the web version or the PowerSchool mobile app. https://ps.fultonpirates.net/public/home.html

Important: All high school students must have the Acceptable Use Policy completed (found in the Beginning of the Year Agreements and Permissions section) before a Chromebook can be issued at Open House. Please plan accordingly so your student is ready for the first day of school.
